Sam Mansoor (1981) is an accomplished columnist, poet and writer.

In 2014, he launched his column in Denmark’s biggest women’s magazine, Eurowoman, tackling issues of relationships, gender and identity. The column was also pioneering in its content, dealing with the subjects that would become mainstream in general media, and social media, some 5 years later. The column gained a reach of up to 80K. Sam’s popular counter-point is the clash between timeless themes and those of pop culture. He’s also written op-ed pieces for danish newspapers touching on subjects such as religious influence in the Arab world, and its crushing effect on basic free rights.

It’s always Sam’s mission to entice the reader, and force them to confront issues that deals with uncomfortable truths. Which, in turn, has made him a controversial figure from time to time.

“My readership has always, mainly, been women. They are curious by nature, and they’re more readily to read things they disagree with. Women are an evolving audience that I’m intimate with. At the same time, it’s tricky, because they change – and evolve – at a much more rapid pace than me.”

Sam is also a veteran in advertising, both as a copywriter and art director. He’s worked with agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, Ogilvy, JWT (J. Walter Thompson): “Advertising is what tested me as an artist. To experience rejection after rejection, to also get view the world not romantically as a potential audience, but in hard-core consumerism matures you. It connects you with an economic reality. I believe that’s an experience every creative must face.”

But it’s always been storytelling that’s been Sam’s calling. His dream is to write for the screen. He admits it might be a pipe dream, but as Sam says, “I found the woman in my life, so maybe I can discover the project of my life.”

In 2020 Sam came closer to that dream. In 2020, Sam Mansoor debuted as a co-writer in an ambitious short-film, Wonderland Recoil (USA/DK). After that he’s acted as a script consultant for several projects, both TV and film.

Sam is currently working on writing his first Danish feature film, and finalizing a major Danish TV-series project, “Everything’s ready, the interest is there. Now, it’s about tying the knot.”

In 2024, Sam moved to France, and restarted this blog after a 1-year hiatus, “I missed this site. I was like having a drink with an old friend.” From there he’s continuing his consultancy work in both diversity and advertising, and expanding his network: “Paris has always been the destination. Let’s see what she brings with her.”
